The race is over again. We had a great time. We started late, 8:45 a.m. We finished in a respectable 26 hours 22 minutes and 17 seconds. This was much better than the HTC organization had projected for us. It is also more than a half hour faster than we originally projected..
Van 1 started things off by knocking more than 10 minutes their leg times. April, the newcomer in van 1 walked her first leg in 12:39 minutes per mile pace. Everyone else in her van also contributed to the lower time.
Van 2 kept things going by taking another 10 minute off their leg times. Alyson, our youngest team member, burned up the course in 11:27 minutes per mile on her first leg.
Even with our improved time this year over last, we only managed to place 5th in the Mixed Division. We were also 27th overall and 2 minutes slower than "Late for Lattes".
Our rookies each had a important impact on our improved time. We hope that each of them will return for next year. Our bing challenge this year was trying to catch other teams. Two teams of note this year are Soleful Brothas and Lost Soles. We killed members of both teams and they both killed us back.
